HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc363-4W
Mr. Burden

asked the Prime Minister what was the total of his official staff and what was the annual cost on 31st December, 1968; and what were the relevant figures on 30th April, 1970.

The Prime Minister:

My official staff numbered 62 on 31st December, 1968, and their annual salary cost was about £126,000. On 30th April 1970, they numbered 65, including one part-time employee, and their annual salary cost was at a rate of about £135,000 per annum. Part of this increase is accounted for by increments and the recent Civil Service pay award.
