Mr. Burden

asked the Secretry of State for Wales what was the total number of civil servants employed in his Department in 1964, and the annual cost; and what were the figures on 31st December, 1968, and the relevant figures on 30th April, 1970.

Mr. George Thomas:

The Welsh Office was not established until 1st April, 1965.

The following is the other information requested; the staff figure for 1st April, 1970 is the most up to date available.
