HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc435-6W
Mr. Snow

asked the Minister of Transport when the present repairs to the A5 at Tamworth, Staffordshire, will be completed; why directional signs for alternative routes to avoid congestion are not adequate; and whether further repairs to the A5 are likely to be started in the vicinity of Tamworth after the finishing of the present operations.

Mr. Bob Brown:

The resurfacing works on the A5 at Tamworth should be completed by 23rd May.

No representations have been received about the inadequacy of directional signs but those erected in the Mile Oak area were initially ignored by motorists and police assistance was necessary.

No further major repairs are planned for the immediate future.
