HC Deb 14 May 1970 vol 801 c307W
15. Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimated number of young children killed by trapping in old refrigerators in the last three years; and if he will introduce legislation to ensure that doors must be removed from disused refrigerators in line with the regulations already operative in the United States of America, details of which are in his possession.

Mr. Elystan Morgan:

I know of two deaths from this cause in the last three years. It is already an offence to abandon a refrigerator on open land; and legislation relating to disused refrigerators retained in the home would not be enforceable.
