HC Deb 14 May 1970 vol 801 cc337-8W
Mr. Robert Howarth

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will announce the control prices for inclusive tour holidays by air for the summer of 1971.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts:

I am satisfied that our tariff policy in this field is achieving its objectives and should be continued for a further season. I am, therefore renewing for 1971 the arrangements that apply for destinations in Europe this summer, subject to certain adjustments for the month of April and small reductions for short holidays in the peak period. The changes are as follows:

(a) Holidays in April 1971:

The minimum prices for holidays in Bulgaria, Greece, Rumania and Turkey will be 50 per cent. of the 1968 normal economy return fare for 15 days or more, 45 per cent. for 11 or 12 days and 40 per cent. for 8 days. The corresponding minimum prices for holidays elsewhere in Europe during this period will be 60 per cent., 54 per cent. and 50 per cent., respectively.

(b) Holidays between 16th June, 1971 and 30th September, 1971 inclusive:

  • (i) Morocco will be added to the list of countries where special prices apply for holidays involving day flights at the weekend;
  • (ii) The minimum prices for holidays of 11 or 12 days will be 90 per cent. of those for 15 day holidays, and for 8 day holidays 80 per cent. of those for 15 day holidays, for both weekend and mid-week travel.
