58. Mr. McMaster

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what action has been taken by the forces in Ulster to apprehend and hand over to the civil authorities those who have conspired to procure the recent riots in Ulster.

Mr. Hattersley:

The Regular Army and the Ulster Defence Regiment co-operate with the Police in Northern Ireland in every way possible, in particular by close intelligence liaison, joint patrols, road checks and the arrest of suspects.
