HC Deb 12 May 1970 vol 801 cc266-7W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has approved for the reorganisation of secondary education on comprehensive lines, both immediate and long-term, in Airdrie.

Mr. Ross:

The approved final pattern for pupils at non-denominational schools consists of two all-through comprehensive schools and will be introduced in August in the extended Airdrie Academy and a new school at Petersburn (Caldervale High School); for R.C. pupils there will be one new all-through comprehensive school which it is understood the authority hopes to include in its 1970–72 building programme. No interim arrangements have been proposed.
