§ Mr. Kenyonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware that farm rents are rising by 7s. per acre of crops and grass, annually; and, in view of the fact that this increase erodes the increase of the Price Review to farmers, what action he intends to take.
§ Mr. Mackie:The amount of any changes in average rents is established each year through an annual rent inquiry. I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the increase of 7s. per acre of crops, grass and rough grazing shown by the latest inquiry for England and Wales. Changes in rent are included in the costs taken into account at Annual Reviews and the figure just mentioned was taken into account in this way at the 1970 Annual Review.
