HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 c219W
77. Mr. Tudor Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what has been done by the Usk River Authority, following his approval of the proposed survey in the Senni Valley, Breconshire, for the purposes of constructing a reservoir.

Mr. George Thomas:

I am not responsible for the day-to-day activities of River Authorities. I understand that since the Usk River Authority anticipated that entry onto the site would be refused by the occupiers, it applied to a magistrate in November, 1969, and again in February, 1970, for a warrant under Section 111 of the Water Resources Act to enter on the land. The magistrate adjourned the application on both occasions. The authority failed to obtain an order by the High Court compelling the magistrate to hear and determine its application, but I understand that the authority will be appearing before the magistrate again on 15th May.
