HC Deb 07 May 1970 vol 801 c181W
Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will, at the first opportunity, appoint a representative of agricultural interests to serve on the Countryside Commission.

Mr. Greenwood:

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales and I appoint members of the Countryside Commission on the basis of their personal qualities and not as representatives of particular interests. Our aim is to appoint members who between them have experience and understanding of the different aspects of the Commission's work. The chairman and two members have practical experience in agriculture.
