HC Deb 06 May 1970 vol 801 c154W
Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many contracts for the Save As You Earn scheme have been registered in Northern Ireland; what proportion they form of the total United Kingdom figure; and what are the total savings through the scheme in Northern Ireland to date.

Mr. Tavern:

By the end of March £123,000 had been collected from 5,242 contracts registered in Northern Ireland with the Department for National Savings and the Belfast and Enniskillen Trustee Savings Banks. This represents about 2.1 per cent. of the total number of contracts registered in the United Kingdom.
