HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 c69W
54. Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many council dwellings have been demolished in the past five years under the slum clearance programme; and how many are now scheduled for replacement in the forthcoming year.

Mr. Freeson:

In the five years to the end of 1969 some 11,600 council-owned dwellings were demolished after being certified unfit by medical officers of health. I do not have figures for 1970, but on past experience the number will be a very small proportion of total clearance programmes.
