§ 54. Mr. Brooksasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many council dwellings have been demolished in the past five years under the slum clearance programme; and how many are now scheduled for replacement in the forthcoming year.
§ Mr. Freeson:In the five years to the end of 1969 some 11,600 council-owned dwellings were demolished after being certified unfit by medical officers of health. I do not have figures for 1970, but on past experience the number will be a very small proportion of total clearance programmes.
