HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 cc75-6W
82. Mr. Hugh Jenkins

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the estimated rate support grant paid by the Government to the London Borough of Wandsworth in ing figure in 1963–64.

Mr. Denis Howell:

The latest estimate of the rate support grants for the Wandsworth London Borough Council for 1969–70 is £5,153,454. This is the amount remaining after transfer of £3,032,374 to the Greater London Council, with a consequent reduction in its precept on Inner London.

Because of the reorganisation of London Government from 1st April, 1965, comparable figures for 1963–64 are not available. In 1965–66 the grants superseded by rate support grant amounted to £4,418,179, excluding the school meals and milk grant, which was not payable to the Wandsworth London Borough Council.
