HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 c90W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the continuing concern of the motor manufacturers at the effect on the motor industry of the Government's policies, he will ease the restrictions on this industry.

Mr. Taverne:

I am aware of the manufacturers' concern; but as my right hon. Friend the Paymaster General told the House on 27th April, the minimum production target for 1970 set down in the E.D.C. Report on the industry is likely to be exceeded. I have no proposals for easing the restrictions at the present time.
