HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 c64W
39. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many general improvement areas have been declared by the Greater London Council and London Boroughs under the Housing Act, 1969.

Mr. Freeson:

Seven improvement areas involving 1,661 dwellings have been declared by London borough councils; none by the Greater London Council.

73. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will make a statement on the progress made by local authorities in declaring improvement areas under Part 2 of the Housing Act, 1969.

Mr. Freeson:

So far 40 local authorities in England have declared 49 general improvement areas. This is an encouraging start, and we expect more such areas to be declared during the year.
