HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 c91W
99. Mr. Spriggs

asked the Minister of Transport what is his estimate of the effect on the new licensing system of rules on drivers' hours, and on railway policies, of entry into the Common Market; what study is being made of the policy of controlled rates in road haulage and of the effects of this policy on British industry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Murray:

The effects would depend on many factors at present uncertain, including the future development of the common transport policy of the European Economic Community and the length of the transitional period before Common Market measures had to be applied in this country. Meantime a close watch is being kept on developments.
