HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 cc87-8W
97. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what sums have been made available to date through Treasury loans to the Council for Small Industries in rural areas; what loans have been made available by this Council for the assistance of rural hotels; and whether arrangements can be made when such loans are rejected for the reasons to be given.

Mr. William Rodgers:

Loan funds made available up to 31st March, 1970, from the Development Fund, with the approval of the Treasury, to the Council for Small Industries in rural areas have amounted to £1,564,500. Of this £1,050,000 has been for tourist enter- prises, including hotels, in rural parts of development areas. It is not the Council's practice to disclose the reasons for rejection of loan applications.
