HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 c61W
30. Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning when he proposes to hold the first meeting of the Advisory Council on Noise; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Crosland:

I presided at the first meeting of the council on 21st April. The council decided to start with a broad review of all the major sources of noise pollution and of abatement measures, and to devote its next three meetings to noise from aircraft, road vehicles and industry. Meanwhile a special sub-committee will review current programmes of research into noise and consider whether there is a need for further studies.
