HC Deb 04 May 1970 vol 801 c12W
63. Sir B. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether, in view of the fact that Russian pilots are now flying military aircraft for the Egyptians, he will stop all British supplies of arms to Arab countries forthwith; and whether, in view of the threat to world peace, he will raise the matter at the Security Council.

Mr. M. Stewart:

As I informed the House on 30th April we are urgently examining the prevailing situation in the light of the Israel Government's claim that Soviet pilots are flying " operational missions " from the United Arab Republic. But for reasons I also explained then, I do not consider either of the courses of action proposed by my hon. Friend to be appropriate.—[Vol. 800, c. 1460–4.]
