HC Deb 04 May 1970 vol 801 c13W
Mr. Hugh Jenkins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a further statement on Anglo-South African relations.

Mr. M. Stewart:

The United Kingdom and South Africa have mutually valuable trading relations. In the defence field we attach importance to the Simonstown Agreement and the facilities which we enjoy under it. But we have our differences, for example, over the arms embargo, and we have made abundantly clear our dislike of South Africa's internal racial policies.
