HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 cc479-80W
Mr. Marks

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many primary classes in Lancashire Divisional Executive Area 24 had more than 40 pupils in January, 1969; what percentage that was of the total; and what are the latest available figures.

Miss Bacon

In January, 1969, 37 classes in maintained primary schools in Lancashire Divisional Executive Area 24 (Ashton-under-Lyne) had more than 40 pupils; this was 9.3 per cent. of the total. In January 1970, because of the temporary effects of a re-organisation of some schools in the area, there was a small increase of two such classes, giving an overall percentage of 9.6.
