asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will list the official and semi-official bodies concerned with conservation and the environment, and indicate the size of the grant they received from the Government.

The Countryside Commission is directly financed through my Department. Its estimated expenditure for 196970 is £309,000. In addition, the Department makes grants, on the recommendation of the Historic Buildings Council, for the repair and upkeep of historic buildings. These grants will amount to over £500,000 in 1969–70.
