§ Mr. GreenwoodSince 1960, 40 schemes for the reclamation of colliery tips in Durham and Northumberland affecting 1,043 acres at a cost of £1,220,000 have been completed by local authorities with the aid of Government grants. The bulk of this work has been carried out since the passing of the Industrial Development Act, 1966. 265 tips remain, in the two counties of which 46 are in active use.
