HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c9W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Attorney-General whether he is aware of a number of cases where persons on charges are advised to plead guilty so as to save the time of the court and in return a promise is given that a lighter sentence will be awarded; and whether he will introduce legislation to make it an offence for such advice to be given by any person.

The Attorney-General

No.
