HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c9W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Attorney-General whether he is aware that large sums of money are being awarded in legal costs in court cases; and whether he will introduce legislation to have a prescribed and limited list of legal costs.

The Attorney-General

Costs in legal cases are subject to the control of the courts and I have no reason to suppose that excessive costs are now being allowed by the courts. In so far as it is practicable to prescribe scales of costs, they are already prescribed by rules of court.
