HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 cc11-2W
78. Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make clear in the Diplomatic Regulations, either by way of amendment to Regulation 6 or Regulation 12 or otherwise as may be appropriate, that officials in the Foreign Service should not at the public expense accompany Foreign Office Ministers on missions abroad undertaken by them solely in their capacity as representatives of a political party.

Mr. Luard

The distinction between official and party political business which the right hon. Member has in mind is already well understood by Ministers and officials in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
