HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 cc369-70W
Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the estimated school building projects in the County Borough of Gateshead for 1971–72 together with the estimated cost.

Miss Bacon

Allocations already made to Gateshead for starts in 1971–72 total £64,900—£26,400 in the special pro- years, from 10 years to 20 years, and more than 20 years, respectively.

Miss Bacon

Following are the numbers of special schools in each category:

gramme to provide extra accommodation for raising the school leaving age and £38,500 for minor works. These figures include the increases which I announced on 2nd March. We hope to announce soon after Easter the projects selected for inclusion in the 1971–72 improvement programme, for which the Gateshead authority has proposed the replacement of two old primary schools.
