HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 cc364-5W
66. Mr. Henig

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will obtain from chief constables reports about instructions given to the police on the action taken against motorists involved in multiple crashes on motorways.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The first priority of the police in this context must be to save life and the second to secure that the normal flow of traffic can be resumed. I am informed that no special advice has been issued by chief constables about possible offences involved in multiple crashes.
