HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 c365W
Mr. Oakes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what further representations, medical or otherwise, have been made to him concerning the dermatological effects of enzyme detergents on the consumer; what replies he has sent: and if he will make a statement:

(2) if he will now set up an inquiry into the harmful effects of enzyme detergents on consumers and on employees engaged in their manufacture on lines similar to the Federal investigation now being conducted in the United States of America, details of which are in his possession.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The inquiries announced in the Answer given to a Question by my hon. Friend on 19th January are not yet complete and reference has been made to this in the replies which have been sent to the two representations—one from a member of the public and one from a Medical Officer of Health—which have been received since then. Possible hazards to employees are a matter for my right hon. Friend the First Secretary of State.—[Vol. 794, c. 41.]
