asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many drivers in Richmond and Barnes Metropolitan Police District have been asked to take the breathalyser test; what percentage refused; what percentage was found positive; what percentage was found negative; and how these figures compare with those from other police districts in the Metropolitan area.

The figures for 9th October, 1967, to 31st December, 1969, for the Richmond and Barnes police station area were 852, 3.4 per cent., 55.87 per cent. and 40.73 per cent. For the Metropolitan Police District as a whole they were 26,878, 6.89 per cent., 64.24 per cent. and 28.87 per cent.
