§ Mr. Smallasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what arrangements he has made to set up a Hospital Advisory Service for Scotland.
§ Mr. RossAfter consultation with hospital authorities and other bodies concerned, I am setting up a Scottish Hospital Advisory Service which will322W operate initially in hospitals and units caring for psychiatric, geriatric and young chronic sick patients. The Service will start work on 1st April though it will be some time before it is in full operation. Its director will be Dr. J. K. Hunter, a principal medical officer in the Scottish Home and Health Department who has previously been director of the Scottish Hospital Centre. He will be assisted by medical, nursing and administrative staff drawn from the Department and the hospital service. A memorandum outlining the aims of the service and its mode of operation is being sent today to hospital authorities.
