Mr. John Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many speech therapists were employed by local education authorities in England and Wales at the last convenient date and five years earlier.

Miss Bacon

672 in December 1968, 481 in December 1963. In terms of full-time staff they represented the equivalent of 471 and 385 respectively.
