The amounts authorised for major projects specifically intended to replace or improve old schools in Wales in programmes from 1967–68 to 1971–72 inclusive totalled just over £7 million. In addition, many basic needs projects and also minor projects authorised during this period contained 289W an element of improvement. Comparable figures for the previous five-year period are not available.
