HC Deb 10 March 1970 vol 797 cc288-9W
Mr. Anderson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much has been spent over the past five years in modernising older schools in Wales; and what was the equivalent sum for the previous five years.

Miss Bacon

Information on the amounts spent over the past five years in modernising old schools in Wales is not available. The amounts authorised for major projects specifically intended to replace or improve old schools in Wales in programmes from 1967–68 to 1971–72 inclusive totalled just over £7 million. In addition, many basic needs projects and also minor projects authorised during this period contained an element of improvement. Comparable figures for the previous five-year period are not available.
