HC Deb 09 March 1970 vol 797 c237W
Mr. Ryan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to ensure that the Social Science Research Council financing of research projects will not operate inequitably to the advantage of the university it chooses to associate with and to the disadvantage of other research teams throughout the country.

Mr. Fowler

The Social Science Research Council is prepared to consider financing research projects at any university or research institution; applications for support are considered on their merits. Where the council establishes research units as a special resource, its intention is to stimulate research in the fields concerned and not to preclude support for projects elsewhere.
