HC Deb 09 March 1970 vol 797 c219W
74. Mr. Higgins

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons without arms or legs have been successful in passing road driving tests; and if he will estimate the cost to the National Health Service of providing them with Wrigley or Traveller indoor/ outdoor powered chairs when the chairs they are now using are worn out.

Dr. John Dunwoody

It is not known how many such persons there may be. Powered chairs are not provided under the National Health Service, and it is not possible to provide the estimate requested.
