HC Deb 09 March 1970 vol 797 c217W
66. Mr. Brian Harrison

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will abolish the 12s. 6d. charge under the Road Traffic Act 1934 for the hospital treatment of road accidents, in view of the disproportionate cost of collecting it.

Mr. Crossman

No. This emergency treatment fee was increased to 25s. from 1st January, 1969, to secure a net return corresponding more closely with the cost of the services provided.
