Mr. Corfield

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the total cost of reducing the tax of 52d. per gallon on aviation gasoline to 2.4d. per gallon as is at present imposed on Avtur, abolishing all tax on aviation gasoline and abolishing all tax on aviation fuel, respectively.

Mr. Taverne

Between £4 million and £5 million direct revenue loss in the first two cases and about £9 million direct revenue loss in the third.

Mr. Corfield

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will indicate the proportion of the revenue accruing from the tax on fuel used in civil aircraft which is attributable to general aviation as opposed to commercial operations.
