44. Mr. Turton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many patients over 60 years old of the Adela Shaw Orthopaedic Hospital, Kirkby-moorside, have been, or will be, transferred to hospitals more than 24 miles away in consequence of its imminent closure.

Mr. Crossman

Eleven, of whom seven have been transferred to hospitals nearer their homes.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many of the child patients of the Adela Shaw Orthopaedic Hospital, Kirkbymoorside, have been, or will be, transferred to hospitals for the mentally subnormal in consequence of its imminent closure.

Six to such hospitals within the National Health Service and one to a hospital outside.
