asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is aware that the West Riding Education Committee has decided not to agree to the suggestion of the Divisional Executive Committee to combine the Normanton County Secondary School with the Normanton Grammar School to make one comprehensive school; and if he will consult with the county authority in regard to their decision.

Yes, and I regret the decision. I understand that the authority is now considering alternative solutions. I shall be glad to arrange for officers of the Department to discuss the problem with the authority's representatives whenever this may be helpful.
