HC Deb 05 March 1970 vol 797 c143W
57. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will reconsider the decision to disallow Mrs. Biss to continue to teach French in the Rowanfield Junior School in Cheltenham, on the grounds that her qualifications do not conform to the regulations, in view of the shortage of such teachers.

Mr. Edward Short

I regret that we cannot accept her as a qualified teacher in the strict sense. New restrictions on the employment of unqualified teachers come into force on 1st September. She could qualify by taking a college of education course.
