§ 22. Mr. Croninasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what instructions are given to student teachers at teachers training colleges with regard to the use of corporal punishment in schools.
§ Mr. FowlerCorporal punishment is not a matter for instruction in the colleges, but I have no doubt that during their course students are confronted with the arguments for and against its use so that when they enter the schools they can settle their own practice in the light of any rules laid down by the education authority.
