Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will obtain a report from the chief constable on how many drivers in Carlisle, Cumberland and Westmorland, respectively, have been asked to take the breathalyser test, how many refused, how many were found positive, how many were found negative, and how these figures compare with those for other comparable areas.

Separate figures are not maintained for the former police areas of Carlisle, Cumberland and Westmorland. In the Cumbria police area from 9th October, 1967 to 31st December 1969 the figures were 1,792, 94, 845 and 853. The provisional figures over the
