HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 cc124-5W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity (1) in view of the low representation of employees who are members of the South-West Durham Safety Group, if she will take steps to bring home to employers the need to campaign for greater safety in factories;

(2) what proposals are under consideration to reduce the number of industrial accidents in the Darlington district, in view of the fact that the incidence of industrial accidents is 70 per 1,000 employees against the national average of 38 per 1,000 employees.

Mr. Harold Walker

It is confidently expected that one of the results of the Employed Persons (Health and Safety Bill) will be to stimulate greater safety consciousness among employers and workpeople.
