HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 c112W
56. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many miners he estimates will be displaced as a result of his decision to allow oil fuel to displace coal in power stations.

Mr. Ross

My consent to the conversion of the Braehead station from coal to oil-burning has been given on clean air grounds. Because of the present coal supply and demand position in Scotland no consequential loss of mining jobs is envisaged.
