HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 c121W
Mr. Roebuck

asked the Lord President of the Council why Room 201 in 2 The Abbey Gardens has been allocated to one secretary when hon. Members have to share other rooms in the building.

Mr. Peart

This room was not considered to be up to the standard required for Members' accommodation.

Mr. Roebuck

asked the Lord President of the Council on what criteria rooms have been allocated to hon. Members and secretaries in 2 The Abbey Gardens.

Mr. Peart

Members who were allocated desks in the Members' Desk Rooms in 54 Parliament Street, were rehoused in the Members' Desk Rooms in 2 Abbey Gardens. The remaining desks, including those in the two single and two double rooms, are allocated by the Serjeant at Arms in consultation with the Whips of the Government and Opposition parties.

Members' private secretaries who had the use of desks in 54 Parliament Street, were rehoused in the secretaries' typing rooms in 2 Abbey Gardens. The remaining desks in these rooms are being allocated by the Serjeant at Arms on applications being received from Members.
