HC Deb 03 March 1970 vol 797 c57W
53. Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what further advice on new construction of tall buildings he is giving local authorities following the events in Kidderminster and at Ronan Point.

Mr. Greenwood

Amendments to the Building Regulations 1965 were laid before the House on 5 February and come into operation 1 April. Circular 10 of 1970, dated 6th February, drew the attention of local authorities to these amendments. They supersede, for new buildings, the recommendations about progressive collapse given in Ministry Circulars 62 and 71 of 1968, which in other respects remain applicable. Ministry Circular 39/69 also gave advice about enforcement of the building regulations. No further advice is contemplated at present.
