HC Deb 03 March 1970 vol 797 cc74-5W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will make a statement about his recent meeting with a housing delegation from the London Borough of Lambeth.

Mr. Greenwood

The main points discussed with the delegation were the financing of the borough's housing programmes and their plans for diversifying housing tenure in areas being redeveloped. The council's suggestions on housing finance will be taken into account in the longer term review of housing finance now in progress. I agreed to consider proposals for a pilot scheme of houses to be built for the council by private contractors for sale to owner occupiers displaced by redevelopment in areas in which private developers had shown no interest. I also agreed to consider an extension of the rent rebate scheme to include tenants of housing associations.
