HC Deb 03 March 1970 vol 797 c97W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity in 1969, how many working days were lost through industrial accidents; how many industrial accidents took place; how many employers were prosecuted for offences in this matter; and what was the average fine paid.

Mr. Harold Walker

The provisional total of accidents notified from premises subject to the Factories Act in 1969 is 322,540. No estimate of the number of working days lost as a result is yet available. 564 employers were prosecuted for offences causing death or bodily injury. The average fine for each separate offence was £54.
