HC Deb 03 March 1970 vol 797 c63W
72. Mr. John Lee

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is his estimate of the current annual land dereliction in Berkshire caused by extractive industries; how much of this is being restored by those responsible for extraction; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Skeffington

Planning consents given for mineral working in Berkshire cover some 6,000 acres. Most of them require restoration or after-treatment of worked land in order to prevent it from becoming derelict. More detailed statistical information is not readily available.
