Mr. Bagierasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will issue a general guidance to planning authorities that planning permission should not be allowed to open borrow pits to provide underfill for new road works unless it can be shown that pit heap waste is not reasonably available.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonMy right hon. Friend will bear this suggestion in mind. He and his right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport are investigating the possibility of further encouraging the use of waste which is suitable and is available at an economic price.
